Skagit Commons (aka Skagit Cohousing)

Skagit Commons is a new cohousing community (finished construction in 2022) in beautiful Anacortes, WA. Anacortes is a town of 17,000 and is known as the gateway to the San Juan Islands. Our homes are just two blocks from 2800 acres of community forest lands with 50 miles of hiking and biking trails. The broader area includes farm land, marina activities, active arts community including music and theater, and stunning views of Puget Sound and Mount Baker. Anacortes has a thriving community of people working to be environmentally responsible in a changing world. Located in a rain shadow, limited rainfall makes for a particularly enjoyable mild climate. We make decisions by consensus using sociacracy as our governance model. We value knowing and caring about each other and respecting individual and family privacy.
