Oak Park Commons Intergenerational Cohousing

Four households met in January 2018 and began to plan and design an urban, inter-generational co-housing community in Oak Park, Illinois - the Ultimate Walking Cohousing Community! The core of committed members has now expanded to 15 households and our building's construction began in May, with an estimated move-in date of Fall 2025. The committed group features members from different professional, social, and ethnic backgrounds, with ages ranging from 4 - 92. With our goal of being truly inter-generational, we hope to attract more families with children. Our development and design committee, as well as our marketing and membership committee, currently meet weekly. Also, we are working with a local realtor who assists with the technical aspects of home purchasing, e.g. contracts, financial advisors, etc.
